"Another place we've made a real difference is Milan, where we celebrated another milestone this week: 10 years of our Malpensa base. We've carried 50 million passengers in the last decade to and from Milan and linked the city to Europe by providing 60 routes to 20 countries and we employ more than 800 people. We recognised Milan's potential; we've invested significant amounts of resources into making it our second-largest base in Europe.
So again, we've contributed to the city and its growth. We celebrated all of this in a series of events throughout the week with press, corporate accounts, travel management companies and of course our crew during Milan Week, where we opened the #Milaneasy lounge in the heart of the events area - which I hear was absolutely amazing. You also might spot some members of our crew in our new marketing campaign.
On top of this, while in Italy, it's great news that we've announced we're extending the flight club program to Italian high value, high frequent flyers. So passengers will start receiving emails on that in the summer and inviting them to join the benefits of this program. So a big thank you to the Italian team whose one-team working has helped us show and celebrate our continued commitment in Milan."

dnata completes acquisition of 30% stake in Milan-based ground handler
24/03/2016
DUBAI, U.A.E – dnata, one of the world’s largest air services providers, has received Italian Anti-Trust Authority approval to acquire a 30 per cent share in Milan-based ground handler, Airport Handling SPA (AH).
With the transaction with Airport Handling now complete, dnata has majority representation on the board through which it controls day-to-day operations. In addition, dnata also has a Call Option to acquire a further 40 per cent share.
Having signed with Airport Handling in September 2015, approval from the Italian Anti-Trust now completes the transaction and marks a major milestone in this venture. “There are many synergies between AH and dnata, and I’m confident that our combined efforts will have a positive impact on the aviation landscape,” said Ross Marino, dnata’s Senior Vice President of International Airport Operations. “We have been really impressed with the way Airport Handling conducts business and are looking forward to our joint future” he added.
Under the agreement with dnata, Airport Handling will retain its current name and employee terms will remain unaffected. “Benefiting from dnata’s expertise, the Airport Handling team is looking forward to further strengthen the quality of services that we offer in Milan’s airports and our prospects for both short and long term" said John Stewart, CEO of Airport Handling.
Airport Handling, which was founded in 2014 and has 1,800 employees, operates passenger and ramp services at Milan’s two major airports, Malpensa (MXP) and Linate (LIN). dnata's investment in Airport Handling underscores its broader vision and commitment to the Italian market, where dnata already operates catering facilities at 22 airports.
